Reasons to Love Fall

Why We Love Fall

Fall is a favorite time for many here in the Adirondacks. I have quite a few reasons of my own for loving the season, but I decided to ask around to see what everyone else had to say.

Every year as the temperatures begin to drop, the leaves on the trees begin to change. There is usually a spectacular array of reds, oranges, and yellows painted across the mountains. It's a fantastic time to take a drive down one of the many backroads to check out the foliage. It's also a great time to hit the trails and head to the top of a mountain to see the fantastic views.

Cooler Temperatures Campfire in the Adirondacks

One of the most resounding answers I received was a love for the temperature drop. Colder temperatures make for great sleeping weather. I love to curl up with a nice, cozy fleece blanket with a mug of hot cocoa. It's also great hoodie and flannel weather. There isn't anything much better than a warm, comfy hoodie. A cool fall night is also the perfect time for a toasty campfire to warm up next to!

One of my own personal favorite things about fall is getting to celebrate Halloween! I love dressing my kids up and taking them out trick-or-treating in our amazing small towns. I love dressing up as well and attending the great Halloween parties we have for adults.

Another favorite attribute of fall is the peace and quiet that settles over our towns as summer passes and autumn arrives. There are shorter lines in the stores and less traffic on the roads. There is a stillness in the air that you can feel.

Winter Winter snowmobile on Piseco

Not to wish away the beautiful weather we have been enjoying, but for some the best thing about fall is that winter is that much closer! It means skiing and snowmobiling are in the near future. I know my kids can't wait to go sledding and ice skating, too!

Every season can be enjoyed in the Adirondacks. Most restaurants and lodging facilities are open year round, so you can enjoy the Adirondacks whenever you'd like.
