Whitewater Rafting
Your whitewater rafting adventure awaits!
Indian Lake is known as the Whitewater Rafting Capital of New York State, offering several rafting companies to guide you safely from Indian Lake to North River on the Indian and Hudson Rivers.
This 17-mile gorge trip, starting at the dam-controlled site in Indian Lake and ending in North River, is one of America's best single-day rafting experiences. The adventure begins on the Indian River, which descends 150 vertical feet over 3.5 miles before merging with the Hudson River.
The next 10 miles on the Hudson feature thrilling Class III-IV rapids, interspersed with calm pools. Guides often refer to sections of the river by names like Blue Ledge Rapid, The Narrows, Osprey Nest, Mile Long Rapid, OK Slip Rapid, The Gunsights, Kettle Mountain, and Harris Rift. This wild water journey drops about 650 vertical feet and winds through the scenic Adirondack Park.
