Boat Launches in the Adirondacks

Boat Launches

Find launches to complete your day on the boat

Adirondack boat launches

Boat launches offer easy access to many of our Adirondack lakes. Some of these boat launches provide free access, others are found at state campgrounds where day use fees apply. From these launches you can also enjoy the still waters and remote wildlife by doing some paddling.

There are several types of boat launches:

  • Hard surface or concrete ramp site affords float-off and float-on launching for most trailered boats
  • Beach launch float-off or float-on trailered boat capability
  • Some sites will accommodate the approach to the water's edge of small and light trailered boats. Boat may then be pushed on or off trailer. Usually shallow areas. Hand launch with no trailer capacity. Boats must be hand carried to the water.

Remember to help prevent to spread of aquatic invasive species

  • Remove all mud and aquatic plants from all gear, boats, motors, and trailers before departing from your boating location
  • Drain all water including bilges, live wells, and bait tanks before departing from your fishing location
  • Do not transport fish from one body of water to another
  • Do not release unused bait into a body of water
  • Do not dispose of fish carcasses or by-products in any body of water
  • Learn the proper "Clean, Drain, Dry" technique after boating from our friends at the Adirondack Watershed Institute and do your part in protecting the Adirondack Park against the threat of invasive species.

Leave No Trace

The magic of the Adirondacks is the result of previous generations taking a long view and protecting the mountains, lakes, and rivers within the Blue Line. That tradition continues today as we support and encourage everyone to practice Leave No Trace ethics, which help protect the lands and waters of the Adirondacks.
